Brick by Brick, which opened in 1995 as a successor to the Spirit, is one of San Diego's most robust musical showcases, second only to Canes, 4th & B, the Belly Up and the Casbah. A recent face-lift has brightened things up. Gone are the arcade games, billiard hall decor and beer-scarred bars, replaced by high-ceilinged sleek interiors, round white cocktail tables, comfy low-bench seating and ice-blue lighting. Brick by Brick also offers a new service for bands to purchase a CD recording of their live performance ($25) or CD and DVD combo ($50)
